A Young Survivor Shares Her Story During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Gloria Taylor, a communications manager at The Heritage Foundation, was diagnosed with breast cancer last year at the age of 26.

In a matter of days, Taylor went from planning hikes with friends and enjoying her career to being faced with life-altering decisions about her health. Taylor beat breast cancer earlier this year, and now says the experience changed her “forever in a positive yet painful way.”

Taylor joins the “Problematic Women” podcast to share her story and to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month. About 13 of every 100 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their life, the National Cancer Institute reports, so Taylor encourages women to get screenings on a regular basis.

Also on today’s show, we explore an alleged cover-up of a sexual assault in a student restroom in Virginia’s Loudoun County school district, just outside Washington, D.C. Plus, we tell you what you need to know about a new California bill that would require large stores to have a gender-neutral children’s toy section. And as always, we’ll crown our Problematic Woman of the Week!
